PASTOR BURTON'S JOURNEY
Thank God for Jesus and a praying mother. The chain of a mother's prayers can link her to God. All during his tour in Viet Nam Pastor Burtons' mother prayed for him and solicited the prayers of her church members and others for her son. The power of prayer brought her son home from Viet Nam.
On the battlefields of Viet Nam this is where Pastor Burton first made his commitment to God. During a battle when his company was pinned down with enemy fire he cried out to the Lord say, "Oh God, are we all going to die?" Instantly the bullets stopped and the enemy artillery fire ceased. He promised God right then and there that he would serve Him the rest of his life. Only a God could have saved him when there was absolutely no conceivable way out of that situation.
RETURN HOME:
After the young warrior returned home from Viet Nam at the ripe old age 20, he tried to sow some wild oats. He realized that he needed the Lord now more than ever. With total dedication unto the Lord he began his crossing… He met his wife Mary and fathered three sons, William Jr., James, and Brian. He is a loving, hard working father, and loving husband. He is totally dedicated to his family. Under the direction and covering of the beloved Pastor Viola Singleton, Pastor of Mt. Calvary Chapel Church, and Pastor Burton served as Youth Leader then promoted to Youth Director and then on to Youth Pastor. While serving as Youth Pastor he had one of the most successful Vacation Bible Schools in the area with over 100 children in attendance transcending racial lines and denominational barriers. Later he became Associate Minister and Adult Bible Study Teacher all while holding down a full time job and raising his family. Pastor Burton received his Ministerial Ordination in 1992.
CALL TO PASTORIALSHIP:
Two years before becoming a Pastor the Lord began to mold and make Rev. Burton preparing him for his destiny and this holy "CALL". Before going to work every morning Rev. Burton went to the church at 5 am every morning to pray. He started this prayer two years before becoming a pastor and he is still praying the same time every day to date. He began to diligently seek the Lord. God began to stir up the waters... Rev. Burton began having service in his home in March of 1997. Now affectionately know to the members of The Father's House as, "The Dining Room Experience." Oh! The Spirit of the Lord did move in that dining room. People were healed, delivered, saved and set free. The word was out about the things happening in the dining room on Oregon Avenue.
CHURCH AQUISITION
The ministry began to outgrow the dining room. Pastor Burton and the members began to pray for a place to worship. God showed Pastor Burton a for sale sign in the yard of a church building. This particular building was a few blocks away and there was no sign in the yard. Encouraged by the Holy Spirit to inquire, Pastor and First Lady did and in 1998 purchased the church that is now known as "The Father's House, Inc.", located at 310 Clay Street, Rochester, PA.
PASTOR OF "THE FATHER'S HOUSE
In August of 1998 we had our dedication service at The Father's House on Clay Street. Pastor Burton received his ordination as Pastor and Founder. Pastor Burton's style has always been uniquely his. From the pulpit, his fiery delivery of the Word is charismatic and most compelling. He preaches and teaches on restoration and healing with God given insight. Around The Father's House he is famous for saying, "Follow me as I follow Christ," and "It's all about Him and not about you." Pastor Burton's messages surpass race and denominational barriers. His willingness to confront issues often considered off limits in the church has caused many to come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour. Because of Pastor Burton's desire to drive out racism and misconceptions, The Father's House membership is diverse. The Father's House is a church where people of all color worship together in unity, praising, and lifting up the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.
