What is Lend-A-Hand Outreach?
An auxiliary of The Father's House of volunteer men and women that give help to the poor, the homeless, the elderly, the sick, the shut-ins and those in need. We help with rent, medical bills, prescriptions, utilities, groceries, clothing, furniture, etc. When a family is brought to our attention we visit the family and then meet and decide how to best help this particular family. Sometimes an immediate decision is needed then the Pastor will make that call. We do this quietly and the Pastor and members of this auxiliary hold names in strict confidence.
We started this organization in 1998. All of our money comes from our parishioner's tithes and offerings. As a group we meet once a month, various dates, to come up with ways and means to continue to help those in need.
What Do We Do?
- Visit homes of the sick and shut-in to provide a devotional service with prayer. We also will assist in any way that is needed, such as cleaning, cooking, etc.
- The Father's House food kitchen will distribute food to needy families.
- Visit and deliver flowers or candy and fruit baskets to shut-ins during the holidays, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
- Transport individuals to church and to hospitals and doctor visits.
- Purchase gifts for needy children at Christmas.
- Collect clothing, food and money for victims of natural disasters.
- Occasionally donate money, goods and supplies to organizations who help provide support to needy children.
Serving under this outreach are the auxiliaries of The Father's House involved in missions, such as missionary groups and youth groups involved with community service.
How Can I Get Involved?
In addition to volunteering time to collect items and visit those in need, monetary donations can help support this ministry. All monies will be used to purchase clothing, food, and supplies for the needy.
