In my toolbox are the tools to repair, rebuild, and create - to fix broken things, to remove flaws, to beautify, and to give purpose and value to things otherwise useless.

Psalms 127:1 Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it…

NUTS AND BOLTS EDITORIAL:

The Ladder - With the increasing concerns for security and emphasis on safety in the work place, policies and procedures are more important than ever. It seems like there are procedures and rules for everything you can imagine. They say to work within a good system we need to, "Say what we do and do what we say." Sounds similar to advice from another good book -

James 1:22 - But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

Every tool and task has an associated set of rules and guidelines. I was surprised to see that even the common ladder has a set of rules. Believe it or not, there is a 4-page formal procedure on use of ladders in the workplace. The ladder is probably one of the most familiar and most commonly used tools but also one of the most misused. People take for granted that they know how to use it safely.

1 Corinthians 10:12 - Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

Some things seem easy but we are encouraged to take the time to evaluate the risks before using any tool or starting any task.

Proverbs 4:26 - Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.

Without going into a lot of detail on all the specifics of safely using a ladder, there is one point that seems to stand out above all others. "When working off a ladder, you must have three points of contact". Again, good advice that reminds us of another even more important three points of contact - the trinity - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.

1 John 5:7-9 - For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.

They can't be separated. They are all-powerful and can provide safety, security, peace, and meet every need. Thank God for providing a way to get in contact.

1 Timothy 2:4-5 - Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.

Galatians 3:20 - Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.
